264 Days to Go!!
James and I are getting Married November 10, 2007...16 days before our 2 year anniversary and 18 days before my mom's birthday. We had planned a May 2008 wedding, but decided to move the date up because we didn't want to wait anymore! (LOL)

This is what I've accomplished so far:

♥ Booked the Ceremony Site (Faith United Methodist Church in St. Charles, MO)
♥ Picked a Reception Site and have inquired about available dates (They are available on our date. Just have to coordinate with FH on a day to put the deposit down)
♥ Picked my colors (Tea Rose and Platinum from Alfred Angelo)
♥ Picked my Bridesmaid Dresses
♥ Narrowed my photography choices down to two.
♥ Decided NOT to go with a DJ and we are iPoding the reception
♥ Picked an emcee
♥ Picked my centerpieces
♥ Finalized the guest list (NO MORE ADDITIONS!! Bleh!)

I'm getting so excited! I can't wait for this to happen! *dies*

258 days and counting!
This community is sooo sad! Let's spice it up a bit more; we are choosing a pretty unique month from what I keep being told. Not a lot of brides wanna deal with the weather maybe?

Our date is set for November 3rd; it's actually the day before my 23rd birthday. I didn't plan this on purpose. It just happened to be the date that our venue was available for. I think it's a good thing, because it will be fun to have two things to look forward to!

So here's what I have done so far:

- booked ceremony location
- booked reception location
- picked out bridesmaids dresses
- picked a limo service to use; still need to book.
- phoned around for hair salon bookings
- picked my flowers
- picked my centrepieces
- decided on an emcee

I still have plenty to do; we are hoping that the invitations will be ready to go for us by July so that we can begin addressing them and sending the to international relatives. The rest of the out of towners will get their invites in August, and the in towners will get theirs by September. I'm not a huge fan of the STD cards, I think they are just one more thing to worry about, really, IMO.

ANYWAY, anyone else wanna share where they have gotten so far? Let's get this community going, ONLY 255 DAYS UNTIL NOVEMBER 1ST!!!!

I'm getting married November 3.  This community seems so dead.  As November approaches, I hope to find this community a little more active.  No one has posted here in more than a year!

I'll wait patiently for someone to compare November wedding notes with.  =)

Has anyone ever just rented a tent and had their reception in it when it's cold out? Or even if it was warm, could you tell me about your experiences and what you paid for it?

Our wedding is 11/24/07 andI still have not found a reception site that I like that we can afford. But is it way too cold to have the reception in a heated tent with those walls on the sides? And what would we stand on? Not the frozen ground. I hope someone else has some experience in this so that I don't go crazy! And if you think this idea is insane, please tell me so I don't waste any more time even thinking about it. Thanks for your honesty and information!

PS- We live in Michigan, by the way!

PPS-The tent would be outside of my parents house. People can still go into the house, but dinner and dancing would be out in the tent.

Type your cut contents here.So I found someone selling this dress on craigslist, and I love it! Does anyone know of a dress similar to this one for cheaper? Like maybe around $500 or less? I went to David's recently and tried on dresses...I'll post those pics either today or tomorrow. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me!!

I went to try on wedding dresses at David's Bridal last week, and I narrowed it down to two dresses. One is the classic "cupcake" look, and I loved it! I felt very bridal in it. But not really very comfortable. The second was an a line, sheath type of dress. It was ivory and had a gold lace overlay. It wasn't a jacket, it was just part of the dress. I couldn't find it on their website, I'm going crazy! This is probably THE dress and I can't show anyone what it looks like. It just felt like it was more "me" and was comfy. So if anyone knows what I'm talking about and can post a pic or email it to me (info's in my info) I would be SO grateful.

Thank you in advance! I'm DESPERATE!

six questions
I have quite a few questions...

1. For all of those who have made their own invitations, how much did it cost/are you planning it will cost? Where did you learn how?
( I want to make my own, but if it's REALLY hard or expensive, I won't bother)

2. Has anyone ever heard of having your ceremony one year, and then the reception the next year, in the same location?
( I'm getting really stressed about $, and to save I think we might wait another year. Or even just a few months. We need to get married on 11/24/07 for insurance and school reasons)

3. What is the best deep conditioner for hair you have used?
(All of the beauty wedding timelines have said to start using a deep conditioner as soon as possible)

4. What is the best piece of advice for wedding planning that you would give to someone?
(I like to have a mix of opinions and help from all kinds of people, not just my two cousins that got married last year)

5. What was your overall budget, and did you stick to it? If not, why not?
(I'm hoping to stick to ours. But I've heard that you'll go over your budget by at least 15% no matter what!)

6. What was your one "splurge" item, if any?

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate it!

I really want to go try on dresses, but I'm afraid to. I'm overweight. I know I'm not the only overweight bride in the world, but what if the dress shops don't have any gowns that will fit me so I can try them on? Should I call first and ask? What should I say?

How do dress shops work? Do they have just one sample size for each dress, or some of each size? Please help!!!
